Gratitude Journal - by Anna

Hello! Welcome to TAJ... Since it's the month of Thanksgiving (haha - I almost put "week of Thanksgiving" - let's not get ahead of ourselves), I thought I'd do a bit of a thankfulness themed post. Last year I didn't even mention Thanksgiving on this blog, even though I did something short on my other blog. So I guess we'll make up for that now.

I just offered to let Jack write a guest post on my blog and he is drafting something very amusing and also kinda lame. Kinda regretting offering that guest post... Haha. I'm kidding. I'll take a week off without arguing. :)

Anyway... Just had to share that. Over the past week, I've been writing down something at the end of each day that I'm thankful for. I'm not sure if I'll do it until Thanksgiving where I actually write down the thing, but I think that doing something like that can help you get in the right mood to celebrate Thanksgiving in a God-honoring way.

So I'll just list my seven things (since last Sunday) and comment briefly on each. Here goes!

#1: Church and friends (Sunday)

Church is obviously on Sunday, and that's always good. Except sometimes I struggle with staying awake during service. Our pastor has a pretty sweet Irish accent, but it puts me to sleep which is frustrating. XD

#2: Little kids to hang out with (Monday)

We went to have dinner with a family who has several small children (five to a few months), and they're really fun to hang out with and play with. Plus, it melts my heart when the two year old remembers my name. And the way she says it is so cute.

#3: Candy and fun walking around at night (Tuesday)

Halloween was Tuesday night, and that was super fun. We went to our youth groups' party, where we basically hang out for a while and eat dinner, and then we went trick or treating and handed out bags of candy with tracts in them while doing that. It was super fun walking around "late" at night (it was dark out, anyway) with a bunch of friends talking, laughing and running/walking. (I did take a pretty nasty fall on some concrete and got a pretty awesome bruise on my knee to show it, but I don't regret going at all.)

#4: Relaxing, not-busy afternoon at home - and a really good burger (Wednesday)

After a pretty busy morning on a field trip and eating with friends, we had a nice long afternoon at home where I was able to get a lot of school done and do some other fun things since I had extra time. (The burger I had while eating with friends was awesome, though. So I won't complain about that... And I have nothing against my friends, I just enjoy my quiet time. I'm an introvert, obviously.)

#5: Sleeping in and getting all my school done for the day (Thursday)

On Thursdays I get to sleep in a bit because my siblings have an online class from 7:30 to 8:30, so we actually start school at nine instead of eight. Which means I can sleep in an hour (though I usually do more like thirty or fifteen minutes). So that's awesome! And I also got all my school done for the day.

#6: Staying up late watching two movies in a row (Friday)

We stayed up until ten thirty Friday watching two Jason Bourne movies in a row. (Jason Bourne Ultimatum and Jason Bourne - both were really good, but I still think I like the Mission Impossible movies better.) It was pretty fun.

#7: Cool weather and a lazy day at home (Saturday)

Even though I had to do yard work (which I really don't like, but...) it was only sixty-eight/seventy degrees, so it wasn't nearly as bad as it usually is. And then I got to do basically nothing else the whole day (even though I did do some work - chores, school, and this blog post for example). Very thankful for lazy days. :)

And that's basically it for today! Try to think of something you're thankful for today, or this week and get yourself in the correct mood for Thanksgiving. :) And have a great Thanksgiving!

~Anna
