The ULTIMATE Study Guide: By Jessica

Hi everyone! I'm back! So i've been in school for about one month now and it has been rough. I am in the softmore year right now, since then I have realized that it is much harder than my freshman year. I find that the hardest thing to get right is my studying technique.

I either study way to long, procrastinate, or study to little. I've also noticed that my grades vary depending on how I study. Whether it's studying for a test or just doing homework having a plan is always best. Remember work smarter not harder! As you might have noticed on my earlier posts I really enjoy Pinterest so here are some funny jokes that you might find relatable if you are studying (or procrastinating like me).

Now lets get to the studying. For my first tip I suggest highlighting any text that you read for homework or projects (don't highlight library books!)

Next take neat, organized notes during class.

Have a college-ruled thick notebook for each subject (if you are in junior high or elementary you may not need this many).

Also color code your notes (it doesn't help everyone but it defenintly makes taking notes more fun). Also make sure that you label your notebooks on the front so that you are not confused each time you look from the right notebook.

Next, have a plan! Write all your subjects out for the day on a piece of paper. Underneath each subject write the specific assignments you need to complete for the week including the due dates. After that write out how long each thing will take you. You can write this out for every day or every week. Once you have completed the checklist start working. Tackle the most important first and then the easiest last (you need more brain power to work on the harder subjects). Once you have completed your list prepare everything you need for the next day so that you donut's have to worry about it tomorrow, then you can go to bed…YAY!!!

After every hour or so of studying take a quick break to stretch, get a snack, go to the bathroom, or check up on your Pinterest account.

These breaks will allow you to let you brain take a breather and prepare for the next session of work.

So I have tried a variety of studying techniques whether it's plowing through it all in one sitting,

taking multiple breaks,

 or just crying.

I haven't seemed to figure it out.

Studying should seriously be a degree, I would love to take a class about studying.

Now let's get back on topic. Sorry everyone I'm writing this right now during a study break so I'm getting super tired. Anyway, I also suggest treating yourself to something fun every once in a while. It gives you a break from stress and gives you a goal to work towards (besides working for God). Whether it's getting Starbucks or watching a movie it will give you the break you so desperately need.

Last but certainly not least make sure that you get sleep! I know this sounds impossible but try it! If you didn't get six hours of sleep than take a nap during the day.

Coffee can only do so much.

Your brain needs to rest, if you don't do it yourself than your body is going to it for you. Not getting enough sleep is also really bad for your health. So drink less coffee and sleep a little bit more.

Here are some verses that might help you push through your studies.

"The hand of the diligent will rule" - Proverbs 12:24a

"I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus." - Philippians 3:14

"The plans of the diligent lead surely to advantage" - Proverbs 21:5a

I hope this post helps you during your studies! Happy Studying!
