About Me: An Imprint of Chinalyi

Allo (That was an allusion to Hercule Poirot), readers! I am Chinalyi, and I am now the youngest contributor to the blog (I'm not sure if Anna liked being the youngest contributor). I am fourteen, and I will be guest posting throughout the summer.

Many would infer from my name that I am Chinese which would be correct. My middle name is Jasmine which derives from, sadly, not the Disney princess; but Jasmine rice, a staple food of China. I have even been to China three times. Although I mentioned some of the  Chinese influences on my life, I intentionally decided not to mention the Chinese food part. I have two siblings. I have a brother and an adorable two-year old sister.

I am homeschooled as the other bloggers are. I am currently undergoing a hectic 10th grade. My favorite subjects are history, geography, and literature. I love history since I believe that learning about the past helps me make better decisions in the future. I have always found it fascinating to memorize locations on a map, and then learn about each countries' cultures. I probably received my desire to travel from my story of geography. Literature class is always appealing to an avid reader. I was introduced to both of my favorite book series in Literature class.

Speaking of literature, I would highly recommend The Tod Moran Mystery Series by Howard Pease. These books recount the adventures Tod Moran has with his friends as they solve mysteries mostly aboard American tramp steamers as sailors. The books were written form 1920 to 1960. My favorite book series is the Hercule Poirot Series by Agatha Christie. These books explore my favorite genre of literature: murder mystery. My favorite books, Hercule Poirot's Christmas and A.B.C. Murders, comes form this series. I also read the biographies written by Janet and Geoff Benge  and publish by YWAM Publishing and Emerald Books, and I still enjoy the books published by American Girl.

With my love of reading comes my passion for writing. I am fond of writing descriptions in my stories as it give literature a pleasant flow. Plays are the easiest types of literature to write. I started writing plays when I was eight. Now, I am the playwright of two secret agent themed plays that my brother, Triniti, her siblings, and I performed. I also occasionally write poetry and short stories.

Other hobbies of mine include cooking, baking, biking, and sleuthing (I might read way too much crime fiction).

Thank you for reading my post. Farewell until next time!

  1. I dearly enjoy reading about your background info. Jasmine rice is quite tasty and popular, so not a bad middle name. 😀
