Thanksgiving: Walking Down Memory Lane - By Triniti

November 20th was the annual Thanksgiving party at our church, and it was super awesome! This year, along with people picking up the microphone and saying what they're thankful for, there were also baptisms at the beginning. Anna got baptized first, and seven more people followed, including another friend of ours.

We sang some songs while we were there, and one of them I had done in an AWANA talent show when I was nine. It's still one of my favorite songs, entitled There is a Redeemer. It tells of how Jesus is our redeemer, and we shall see him in eternity if we repent and trust in him.
The following video is of me singing at the talent show.

Singing is one thing that I've always loved. It gives me a lot of joy to worship God and to sing His praise. As we were singing this song in church, it reminded me of a lot of things, all of which I am thankful for.
  • My dad, who posted the above video on YouTube and was always spreading the gospel message.
  • The sovereignty of God, as He chooses to do things that we don't understand.
  • The way that God gives us each talents that can be used for His glory, like my singing and Anna's piano playing.
  • The grace of God, as He allows us to be redeemed. We are all sinners, and still, God chooses to give us a way to heaven.
  • That Thanksgiving isn't about turkey and mashed potatoes. Thanksgiving is a special holiday put aside to thank God for all that he's given us and all that he will take away. As Abraham Lincoln put it in his Thanksgiving Proclamation, "The year that is drawing towards its close, has been filled with the blessings of fruitful fields and healthful skies. To these bounties, which are so constantly enjoyed that we are prone to forget the source from which they come, others have been added..."
On Thanksgiving my family went to Anna's house for the 7th Annual Gobbler Games! The Gobbler Games are an event held on Thanksgiving every year, in which a competition is held made up of WackY games. Afterwards a white elephant exchange is held. The presents were all really good this year...The loser of the games goes first, and the winner last.  I was in fourth to last place...

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving! Thank you for taking the time to read this blog, and I hope you enjoy the upcoming holiday season!
Happy Thanksgiving, and Merry Christmas!
